Young children thrive in active, hands-on environments where making books is one of many options they can choose during the day.

Visiting scholar Matt Glover expands on the ideas in Already Ready, a book he co-authored with Katie Wood Ray, to help preK and Kindergarten teachers:

– Make sense of children’s early writing
– Recognize important developmental signs of writing
– Connect the thinking and language that young children use to thinking and language of more experienced writers
– Develop strategies for supporting children’s growth

Young children are filled with stories to tell and ideas to express. Matt will help you discover new ways to nurture these natural tendencies and help students understand the writing process and what it means to be a writer.
